初入交大,勤勉努力

KISAN MIYAZAKI earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Studies (Information and Communication track) from Meiji University in Japan. After graduation, she worked in the finance department of a Japanese automotive parts company. However, driven by her passion for communications and a desire to pursue a career in media, she resigned after two years to return to academia for further study and self-development.

In 2022, KISAN MIYAZAKI began her master's degree at the School of Media and Communication at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Well aware of her academic shortcomings and the gap between herself and her classmates, she has always put her academics first during her postgraduate studies. Through extensive reading and study of journal literature in related fields, she continued to accumulate knowledge, broadened her academic horizons, and gained a more macroscopic understanding of her research direction and discipline.

不滞于前,不止于此

Under the guidance of her advisor, Prof. Wu Fang, KISAN MIYAZAKI wrote her first conference paper. Despite having no prior experience in English academic writing, she persevered through challenges with the support of her advisor and peers. Ultimately, her paper, authored as first author, was accepted by IAMCR 2024, a top-tier international conference in communication studies, and presented in person at the July 2025 conference in New Zealand.

In student activities, during her first year of graduate studies, KISAN assisted in managing the new media operations (WeChat public account) for the Graduate Student Association of the School of Media and Communication. She was also recognized as an “Outstanding Volunteer” at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University–ICA International Forum on New Media. Additionally, she served as class president for the Chinese-language program for international students in Media and Communication, where she coordinated class affairs and supported the school’s initiatives.

In social practice, she takes advantage of her extracurricular time to actively participate in public welfare activities. She participated in the Summer Teaching Programme in Anhui province, which won the National Outstanding Team Award and the Best Video Award. In addition, she has actively participated in the exchange activities of the Shanghai branch of Freebird, a Sino-Japanese student exchange group, and assisted in the planning and successfully organized corporate visits for foreign students.

KISAN MIYAZAKI continues to improve her overall ability by accumulating internship experience. She was in charge of interpreting and coordinating matters for Japanese exhibitors at the China International Consumer Goods Fair, and accompanied exhibitors on a business trip to the Hainan Free Trade Port as an accompanying interpreter, introducing the preferential policies of the port. Eventually, the team was able to facilitate the entry and registration of two Japanese companies in Hainan.

During her postgraduate studies, KISAN MIYAZAKI's internships at game companies such made her interested in Chinese online games developed in China going overseas. As a result, the topic of her master's thesis is centred on the export of Chinese-made games to the sea, and she hopes to make use of her linguistic strengths to pursue a career in the game industry in the future.

功不唐捐,玉汝于成

The trials and challenges during her postgraduate studies have allowed KISAN MIYAZAKI to grow in a variety of academic, practical, and social activities, as well as gaining valuable friendships in the process. In the future, she will not forget her original aspirations and will be strict with herself and lenient with others. She will also keep in mind the principle of ‘Thinking of the source of water, loving the country and honouring the university’, and contribute to society as much as she can.
