I. Introduction to Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

II. Program Overview

This joint doctoral degree program (JDP) awards a single jointly conferred PhD upon candidates who fulfill the academic requirements of both universities.

Key Features:

  • Eligibility: Open to students enrolled at either university who pass the qualifying examination.
  • Supervision:
    • Primary supervisor from the home university.
    • Co-supervisor from the partner university.
  • Residency:
    • Mandatory 12–24 months at the host institution.

IV. Admission Requirements

  1. Academic Criteria: Meet entry standards of both SJTU and NTU.

V. Admission Process

  2. Selection:
    • Joint evaluation by SJTU-NTU committees.
    • Selected candidates co-develop a Joint Training Plan with supervisors.
  3. Mobility:
    • Commence overseas study after passing qualifying exams and completing preparatory requirements at SJTU.

VI. Financial Arrangements

  1. Tuition: Waived by the host university.
    • Non-academic fees (e.g., administrative charges) may apply.
  2. Student Responsibilities:
    • Accommodation, living expenses, and international health insurance.
  3. Institutional Support:
    • Basic local health insurance provided by both universities.

Program terms are governed by the SJTU-NTU Joint PhD Agreement. Policies subject to bilateral review.
